Aurora Scott is the daughter of Tanner Scott and the step-daughter of Lianne Mars, making her the step-sister of the titular anti-heroine of the series, Veronica Mars.
Character History[]
Aurora disappears in Neptune, where she went to visit her friend Adrian Marks for spring break. This makes her the disappearance within the spring break season, following Hayley Dewalt, during the events of The Thousand Dollar Tan Line. It is immediately assumed that Aurora was the second victim, as she was last seen in the same location as Hayley, and upon further investigation the house is revealed to be owned by the Gutierrez cousins, drug cartel royalty, leading Veronica to suspect the involvement of Frederico Gutierrez Ortega and Eduardo Gutierrez Costillo.
In the end, Veronica discovers that Tanner was forced by his associate, Duane Shepard (alias Lee Jackson), to capitalize upon the disappearance of Hayley Dewalt by faking his daughter's abduction. Their plan was to create a fake ransom demand for both Hayley and Aurora's return, taking the reward money (funded through a hotline from Trish Turley's talk show) as ransom, and disappearing to Bermuda. Their plan is foiled by Veronica's discovery of Hayley's body and a phone call from the real Lee Jackson, who is a woman working for the Meridian Group specializing in ransoms and kidnapping. When Veronica concludes that Hayley was killed by her boyfriend, it becomes clear that it was an isolated incident. She quickly unravels the scheme, which ended up concluding in Aurora trying to double-cross her father and his partner.
Aurora had Adrian, her secret boyfriend, assault Duane in an alley near the Neptune Grand with one of her brother's maracas, stealing the ransom money from Duane and framing her father for his attack. It is revealed that Aurora has planned this secretly since the inception of the plan, and had brought in Adrian, who had also feigned being gay for years so that the two could have a sexual relationship under her parents' roof. Adrian and Aurora intended to take the money and get away, but are stopped by Veronica and Keith.
Aurora is arrested with Adrian and Tanner, with Lianne facing the possibility of being charged as an accessory to the crime. In this event, Hunter would live with and be cared for by Veronica.
In Mr. Kiss and Tell, it is revealed that Aurora was charged as a minor, resulting in her receiving parole and mandatory therapy. Lianne fought for and was awarded custody of her step-daughter, and has placed Aurora in therapy for individuals with antisocial tendencies.
Personality[]
While reading Aurora's diary, Veronica notes that she seems to have a lot in common with both Veronica and Lilly Kane. She's noted to be smart, manipulative, and a good liar. Her upbringing and personality make her an excellent foil for Veronica.
