Chuck Rooks was a teacher at Neptune High--Veronica's favorite teacher, in fact. After being accused of having an affair with Carrie Bishop, he was given a hearing at the school board.
Veronica gladly offered to help him, proving that he had done nothing to Carrie. Veronica visits Mr. Rooks to congratulate him. She immediately finds out that Carrie was telling the truth, but not about herself. It was really Susan Knight he had the affair with. Regretting her decision to help Mr. Rooks, she visits Susan and persuades her to tell the truth, leading him to resign.
